Redefining Hospitality: What Thailand Taught Me

I am on vacation right now with my husband in Thailand. This is the kind of travel we work hard for. It has been so fun and we are only a week in, with 2 more weeks to go.

One of the greatest parts of our trip so far has been the hospitality of Thai people. I have never felt so welcomed in a country. The people here go over the top with hospitable tendencies and the amazing part is it’s not a show or a put on. It’s just their culture. They make suggestions of places to go or things to eat, they want to accommodate you with whatever you ask, they are not rude or badger in the streets or in markets, they see you carrying garbage (looking for a garbage can) and they offer to take it for you. They are so laid back and generally happy. It is just their way of life, and it feels so good to be among people like this.

It makes me rethink what hospitality means to me. That I want to provide great experiences for the people around me. That could mean in our Airbnb/STR business, but also in the other business things I do, like coaching, consulting, and retreats.

I hope you are pleased with how your January went!
