Showing Up: The Best Gift We Can Give

Showing up. 

I got to spend the weekend watching people show up and my energy is on fire because of it. 

I showed up for my mother in law. She turns 80 tomorrow and I insisted on throwing her a party to show her how much people love her. EVEN when she told me only 3 people would show up (HA!). 

My sister in laws, their spouses and some of their off spring showed up. They helped with the huge undertaking of feeding + welcoming 100+ people. I had the plan and they really helped me implement (cutting vegetables, fruit, meat, decorating, picking up 12 dozen donuts). It was amazing. 

Friends & Family of my amazing mother in law, SHOWED UP. Over 100 people made their way to a VFW in North St. Paul to shower her with love, memories, kindness and support. 

This is my favorite kind of story. When people just show up for each other and you can pick out the layers of it happening. It was such a great weekend to love on Sandy. I really enjoy when people celebrate each other being alive and not just waiting around for the next family funeral. 

It was so busy I didn't even get a picture of all of us, but I sure won't forget the smiles and tears that were happening all day!
