Wenonah House Gets a Purple Reboot
It feels like spring is springing here in Minnesota. I noticed my eyes itch and my nose runs here and there so I am assuming Spring is for real in swing!
We are currently doing a lot. Our little, short term rental near the Airport in Minneapolis (currently called Wenonah House) is getting a revamp. We are turning it into a Prince house. The artist formerly known as. It’s weird to google or Pinterest that term, because most of the time it knows what I want, but sometimes it comes up with Prince William & Harry or literal crowns in the décor. We are changing out décor everywhere, adding purple to a lot of the house. New table & chairs to replace the crappy tall ones that I have hated since month 6 of opening that house. New rug (I ordered 4 and don’t like any of them..). Lots of record store stops over the past month to get the records to hang and to let guests use. Still working on more changes but we are excited to launch next month!
Shout out to my amazing husband. He is our official wallpaperer in the Rooney universe. He has done peel & stick as well as learned how to do pasted (wallpaper comes with paste on the back and you do the process of wetting it and then hanging). My oversight on the detail while ordering made it that he had to learn to do yet another wallpaper this past weekend. I could’ve sworn it was peel and stick. I could’ve sworn I felt the back of it to confirm once it arrived. I was hella wrong. He looked at me with hope in his eyes that I would say I’ll send it back and we will do this next week. Of course, they don’t offer another option and he agreed this wallpaper embodied the theme we were leaning into. SO, we went to the store to get wallpaper paste, and away he went with learning a whole new wallpaper technique to make my Prince dreams come true! Ha. I think the universe delivered this man on a gold platter to me, because there may not be another person out there that can pivot the way he does when I ask him to.
We are celebrating my amazing mother in law this weekend with an 80th birthday party. I am so excited to see the people that will show up to share stories about her numerous years on earth She is an absolute delight and I love how many people have reached out to let us know they are coming. My first love will always be events..
